The Studio

A quiet room built for long, focused work.

NEST is a private tattoo studio in Yarrambat, Victoria, built around one thing: large-scale Japanese tattooing done properly.

The model

Appointment only, one artist and one client at a time. No walk-ins and no guest chairs, so the room stays quiet.

NEST specialises in large-scale Japanese and neo-Japanese tattooing: full sleeves, backpieces, bodysuits and multi-panel compositions.

These are not single-session tattoos. They are long-term projects, designed as one cohesive piece and built across many sessions. Every part is planned to serve the whole.

What does "done properly" actually mean?

Doing it properly means the tattoo is planned before it is started. Composition, flow, scale and placement decided with intent, not improvised on the day.

Designed as one piece

A sleeve should not look like separate ideas stacked together. The structure is decided first so the whole piece reads as one.

Built to age

Good Japanese work still reads clearly in decades, not just on the day it heals. Bold structure keeps it strong as skin changes.

Grounded in the tradition

Japanese tattooing has its own language of motifs, layout and meaning. We work with that language, not just the look.

A studio, not just one chair

NEST is built as a studio, currently home to one resident artist, Levi Taylor.

The standard comes first. As NEST grows, any artist who works here will hold to the same approach: large-scale work, properly planned, built to last.
